What is covered in the course
Introduction into managing safely
We will discuss the importance of managing safely, key reasons to do it, and explore your role in fostering a safe and secure working environment and the range of responsibilities and accountabilities associated with managing safety.
Understanding responsibilities
You will explore Health and Safety Law and the key parts of H&S management systems. This includes understanding employer and your duties and responsibilities, as well as the rights and obligations of employees and the potential consequences that may arise from non-compliance with these regulations.
Understanding hazards
You will learn to identify common workplace hazards from six broad groups, recognise the signs and symptoms of these hazards and learn how to manage them, including risk assessments, training, control measures implementation, reporting, etc.
Risk Assessments
You will discover what is a risk, how to carry out risk assessments and evaluations and practice to do that with the help of risk matrix and risk assessment template, which will be provided
Investigating incidents
You will discuss what is an incident, an accident and near miss and why there is a need to investigate them and how to do it
Measuring performance
You will learn how and why we measure health and safety performance, what is proactive and reactive measurement, the safety pyramid, the iceberg principle and auditing

Karl is founder and owner of Nova Vita Solutions Limited and a practicing Health and Safety Consultant with extensive first-hand experience in implementing various aspects of H&S and ensuring workplace safety for customers in a wide range of industries.
Karl is founder and owner of Nova Vita Solutions Limited and a practicing Health and Safety Consultant with extensive first-hand experience in implementing various aspects of H&S and ensuring workplace safety for customers in a wide range of industries.
Karl holds a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and has a background in electrical engineering, H&S and engineering management.
His trainer skills he has honed through his experiences in both military and civilian settings. His ability to adapt his training style to suit the group makes him effective in engaging with his audience.
Karl's training sessions are known to be lively and engaging, featuring real-life examples to ensure relevance, interaction, interest, and fun for participants.
